Weekly Weigh In- 1/20/13

First, I'd like to announce the winner of my first ever giveaway! Drum roll please. . .

And the winner is: Kim from http://latteandaprayer.blogspot.com!!!

Kim is a newlywed blogging about her life as a new wife, law student, and her weight loss journey. Definitely check her blog out! I'm excited that the giveaway gave me a chance to connect with Kim and it is so cool that she will soon be a lawyer too! Although, I am super jealous that she will never have to take a Bar Exam! Congratulations on winning, Kim!

To everyone else who participated, thank you so much! I am so happy to have connected with so many people and hope you all continue to share with me as I continue my weight loss journey! And don't worry, we will have more giveaways in the future!

. . .

Now, to my weekly weigh in report.

This week's stats:

This week's loss = - .6

Total loss = - 31 lbs

I still have trouble not being disappointed with small losses. I know, I know, how many times do I emphasize that a loss is a loss? I had a bigger loss (for me anyway) last week so I can't be too greedy. I am just happy that I am continuing to go in the right direction!

Reflecting on the week, I did well in many areas. I exercised on my elliptical 4 nights this week. The other nights I was out all day, but did make it a point to go for a walk during my lunch break on those days. Also, I ate in a lot more! That was the main thing I committed to this past week to change, limiting my eating out at restaurants. I did feel like it helped, even if I only lost .6.

What I need to work on this week is definitely my sleeping pattern. I need to make sure I am getting enough hours of sleep. I've always been a night person and really need to improve in this area. The problem comes to weekends where I throw everything off by staying up late and sleeping in. Also, I think I need to increase my activity. Now that I'm getting in the habit of doing my elliptical on a regular basis, I need to kick up the intensity I think.

With that, I'm open to more workout songs to add to my playlist. I recently downloaded the "Imagine Dragons" album and I really like it. Actually this song has been stuck in my head. I was working out to it earlier. I'm a dork, I know lol:

Maybe not a traditional workout song, but it is stuck in my head!

What music do you workout to?

Also, share your weekly weight loss by linking up with the Biggest Loser challenge tomorrow!

My results:

Week 3 loss = - .6 lbs
Total challenge loss = - 3.8 lbs

  6. I am the same way with "small" losses. But I agree, i'm just happy that I'm going in the right direction. Last week I made it a point to get enough sleep every night and that definitely led to more productive days with better food choices, and a 1.5 pound loss. :) So good luck with getting enough sleep!
My favorite music to workout to is actually a mix of a lot of things. My cardio playlist is mainly pop music with a little folk thrown in. But my strength training playlist is mainly rap and rock. lol which is funny because I typically don't enjoy rap, but it makes me feel bad-a when I'm lifting. hahaha

  9. I am doing a program this week with my TOPS group where I am taking in a pound of fat from the butcher shop. They first get to look at it and then there is a little saying to go with it, about it being the happiest one pound....because no one ever wants to lose just one pound, they want to lose 2,5, 10 lbs!

I hate when my members come out and say "oh, I only lost a 1/4 lb. A loss is a loss! Celebrate it for what it is, because it is a sign you have done something right.

Good work on your loss...here is to another strong week!

  10. I love working out to fast paced music like dance or hip-hop, but when I run outside I tend to run a lot slower, so I actually listen to country music when I run... ha!

  11. Great job on your loss this week! I know how difficult it can be to only have a small loss (just like I posted a few weeks ago). But like has been said before, a loss is a loss, they all add up.

  12. You're right, a loss is still a loss. It's still a step in the right direction & that's all we can do is keep walking in the right direction!

  14. Great song! I'd never heard of Imagine Dragons before, but I'll definitely check out that album. My workout playlist is suffering from an identity crisis. I have everything from Michael Jackson to Rage Against the Machine to Nas. A few songs I'm really into right now are:

Helena Beat - Foster the People
Work Hard, Play Hard - Wiz Khalifa
Battle Flag - Lo Fidelity Allstars

The albums Master of My Make-Believe by Santigold and Spark Seeker by Mastisyahu have a bunch of great songs too

  15. Keep up the awesome work. You're doing a great job.

A sleeping routine is hard for me too because like you, I stay up late and sleep in on the weekends which makes it harder to get to bed at decent time during the week. I actually set an alarm this morning and have no memory of turning it off. Luckily I didn't have to work today. Good luck changing your sleeping patterns!
