Fortunately, I have been making good choices. I haven't been letting myself get that burger and fries or go crazy with a dessert, but in the past I'm sure I would have. I am proud of myself. I proved to myself that I can handle restaurant temptations. The key is planning ahead of time an appropriate meal. Ordering the grilled chicken and broccoli. And I haven't felt deprived! I can honestly say I've been satisfied with my meals, but I need to get myself back on schedule and eat more homemade meals where I know the exact recipes and the exact points.
When I know I have a hectic schedule I need to plan ahead. I need to make more meals that I can store and reheat. The plus of this though was that I spent a lot of quality time with my youngest sister, she really is my best friend also! I'm so happy that we've become so much closer since we've both finished college and moved back to the Burgh. I have another sister also and we are also very close! She recently moved into a new apartment, so I see less of her, but we have a fun Friday night already planned :)
Another confession for the week: I also haven't been perfect with my workouts. I did get in my workout today and yesterday, but the beginning of the week I made too many excuses. I still really need to work on the exercise portion of all of this. I will make sure I work out tomorrow and Saturday. I promise! I know I have plans for Friday night so I will force myself to wake up early to get a work out in. I just need to remind myself of how good I feel after working out.
I feel like the week flew by on me and got away from me a little. I've stayed well under my daily point values the whole week, but I'm worried about gaining. I'm so close to my 30 lbs and I want to reach that milestone so bad! I feel like I was stuck wavering at the 20 lbs mark so long and I really don't want to repeat that whole process over again.
In good news, the weather is supposed to be unseasonably warm here this weekend! Hopefully I can get some walking in outside to supplement my indoor workouts and as long as it doesn't rain, I am going to make sure I take a lunch and go walking tomorrow!
So there are my pits and peaks for the week :)
I hope everyone has a great Friday!

Pit and Peak Link Up!
The basic idea is to blog about the pit(s), or lowest part(s) of your week and the peak(s), or the best part(s) of your week. Link-up with both of us, and hop around and see the highs and lows of other bloggers' weeks.
Also, Allie from Tales of a Twenty Something recently had a great post about sponsoring other blogs. If you are a new blogger, like me, a great way to get your blog out there and find other bloggers to connect with is to sponsor other blogs. If there is a blog that you think is great then consider sponsoring them, reach out and maybe you will make a new friendship! You can always email a fellow blogger that you really enjoy reading and see if they have any sponsoring options :)
Check out some of the wonderful blogs I've chosen to sponsor: Where We Can Live Like Jack And Sally, Mama Laughlin, Life by Lex

Because this post has gone a little bit all over the place, here is another random thought: I've finally gotten my act together and joined twitter. You would think that I'm much older than I am with my lack of social networking skills! I missed the twitter craze somehow. Yes, I lived under a rock apparently. Well, I joined the club! You can follow me @ktjweighingin I'll be sure to follow back :)

You are doing great. I still am off my game and can't seem to get back on track. Food is what I turn to and lately its been by best friend. Keep doing what you are doing.
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult when you fall off track a little. Just don't let it go to far. Focus on one small change with your eating and sometimes a small change can really spur motivation! I've been loving to Progresso Light soups for lunch, great for a cold winter day, and a full can I'd only 4 ww+ points! Maybe browse through a light recipe book and find something that looks good and give it a try :)
DeleteNew Follower!! Found you through the Aloha Friday Blog Hop! Love your blog.. When you have a minute, stop by and say hi www.kjaggers.com ..and if you like what you see.. follow back! Happy New Year! K Jaggers
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by! I'll be sure to check out your blog too :)
DeleteI hear ya on the making excuses to work out! I blame my boys a lot! "I can't do it with 2 kids" but others do...so can I! I need to step that up! Did you lose your first 20 pounds fairly quickly?
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't even have kids! I just need to make it a routine like it is an appointment that I can't skip.
DeleteI did lose 20 lbs fairly quickly, but then I hovered there. It is difficult for me to lose weight, not an excuse it is a truth. I've mentioned before that I have a medical condition. I was born with a chronic disease and as a side effect my system thinks I'm starving and stores most of what I eat. However, a lot of it has been about finding what foods work better. I'm very carb sensitive and that is something I continue to work on.
How fast you lose weight really does vary and a lot has to do with your individual body and metabolism. I'm not a medical professional, but these are my observations. My little sister has lost double the weight I have in the same amount of time so it all varies.
Don't worry about how long it will take. You can make it happen! This is a life change, not a temporary diet so you will be following your whole life and as more time goes by better, healthier routines will form :)
Stopping by from Pit and Peak link up.
ReplyDeleteI think its great that even though you didn't do exactly the best you wanted you just picked yourself up and kept going! GOOD JOB! Being over weight myself I understand how one can get drowned in the "I messed up"

yes! it can be so easy to get stuck in that mentality.
DeleteSounds like you have a great plan in place. The more we plan the better we are and the safer with our with our food choices.
ReplyDeleteyes the plan is in place and now I just need to follow through!
DeleteI totally understand what you mean, I've been so off this week too. But all we can do is learn from our experiences and change the things that we can change. We are both hoovering around the 30 pound mark, and can't wait to get there. And I know that we both will hit that mark soon.
ReplyDeleteDon't feel bad about twitter, I still don't have one and don't plan on getting one ever. :)
You're right, all we can do is learn from everything and try to do better. We will both hit that 40 lb mark soon!
DeleteI love this idea of Pit & Peak! I understand completely what you mean!! I always feel like at any moment I could spiral; I'm constantly running from that person. But you are one step ahead, you have a plan, and that is what we can do to be successful. I started my blog not only as as a way to share healthy recipes I make, but as a way to be accountable to myself and anyone who felt like paying attention. Honestly, along with tracking calories on My Fitness Pal, I have to say it's been the biggest help to me. Now, I have some blog buddies, too :) We can do this together! Planning is huge for me too, and especially when I know I'm going out to eat. Thankfully, SO many restaurants have their menus online and so many offer nutrition info. My friends know that I'm already going to know what I'm having before I get there; and I'll even tell them what I'm going to order as another way to hold myself accountable. Good luck, Katie and remember we're here for support!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It is so great having so many wonderful blog friends for added support :) we can do this!
DeleteCame over from the Aloha Blog hop.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your healthy choices! I'm doing the same, too. Restaurants are tough for me too.
Thank you for posting the blurb about sponsoring. I sort of get it, but it's nice to have it explained!
Happy weekend!
Thank you! I hope you have a good weekend also :)
DeleteKatie,
ReplyDeleteI think you have all of the best ideas on how to improve your workouts! Staying positive and accepting that we are only human and have faults is key to a good diet! Hope the weather was as good as it was supposed to be! I'm a little late commenting this week, but thanks again for linking up! Hope to have you back tomorrow!
